Vn88 Rezence discussion points: Celtic vs. Rangers

This Saturday's matchup between Celtic and Rangers, shown live on Vn88 Sports, will likely decide who wins the Scottish Premiership.

Ange Postecoglou's squad enters the match with a nine-point lead in the standings over their Old Firm rivals.

Michael Beale has guided Rangers to a strong start, but the club has lost its last five league matches played at Celtic Park.

Rangers will go out in front of 60,000 Hoops fans at Parkhead without any visiting fans in sight as they try to beat Postecoglou's team for the final time this season.

Some of the W88 major topics of discussion leading up to this weekend's highly anticipated matchup are discussed below.

Competitions held so far this season

Since returning from the World Cup break, both teams have remained undefeated in the league, with Celtic maintaining a two-point lead over Rangers.

Postecoglou's team dominated their rivals, 4-2, in the season's opening Old Firm match, but in January, they required a late goal from Kyogo Furuhashi to salvage a 2-2 draw at Ibrox.

Kyogo's two goals in the League Cup final helped Celtic to a victory over their Old Firm opponents at Hampden Park in February. Rezence thinks that this victory ensured that Celtic would keep the trophy that they had won earlier in the season.

How close are Celtic and Rangers now?

Beale has previously stated that Celtic's "excellent" performance makes it unlikely for Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership this year.

Rangers have a six-point deficit to make up if they are unable to overcome Celtic's unbeatable home record this season.

After the break, Beale's squad will travel to Ibrox to face Rangers again, giving them a chance to close the margin to just three points.

The problem Rangers have is that they still need Celtic to lose another match and need a large swing in goal differential of 27 goals.

When Mooy returns, who will take over for Hatate?

Celtic's last league game was a 2-0 victory against Ross County on Sunday, and it was far from their best performance.

Because of injuries to Reo Hatate and Aaron Mooy in the middle, captain Callum McGregor started further up the field, and newcomer Tomoki Iwata got his first start for the club since he signed in January.

Even though Hatate won't be available on Saturday, Parkhead manager Postecoglou is "sure" his team has enough depth to beat the rest of the league.

Nevertheless, defensive back Anthony Ralston and offensive threat Liel Abada are expected to miss out once again.

To what formation do the Rangers adhere?

If Beale's Rangers team wants to get anything out of Saturday's match against Celtic, they'll need to be more clinical than in recent weeks.

As a false nine last May, Joe Aribo helped them earn a 1-1 draw at Parkhead.

Kris Boyd thinks it might be an option for the manager again after Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak failed to make an impression in their previous league matches this season.

After scoring twice against Dundee United, Malik Tillman is raring to go, and Nicolas Raskin, who missed the last month due to injury, could be back in the mix.

The team also welcomed back John Souttar and Ridvan Yilmaz, with the former making a cameo off the bench in the recent victory over previous club Dundee United.

Illness kept Ianis Hagi out of the match, but he is anticipated back soon. On the other hand, Steven Davis, Kemar Roofe, and Tom Lawrence are out for the remainder of the season.

0 Away Discipline

The final two league meetings between the Old Firm will feature no visiting fans.

Due to safety and security considerations, the clubs have decided not to provide any tickets to away fans for either game.

This is similar to what happened last year, when Glasgow rivals played each other in the league and the away team didn't send any fans until the third game.

There have been fewer than 1,000 away fans at each of the first two games this season.
